Botox & Jeuveau

Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) and Jeuveau (prabotulinumtoxinA) are similar treatments both FDA approved to improve the appearance of deep facial wrinkles. Botox is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures worldwide with over 11 Million patients having been treated.

The procedure involves injecting a small amount of a solution into the facial wrinkles. This causes the muscles to temporarily relax and with less movement the skin surface will gradually smooth out and the lines begin to fade.

The most commonly treated areas are the frown lines between the eyebrows (glabella lines), horizontal forehead creases and crow’s feet around the eyes. You can expect seeing results in about a week. The net effect can last up to 3 to 6 months.

Our doctors have extensive knowledge in facial cosmetic injections and were trained by some of the leading Botox cosmetic dermatologist trainers.

Dr Jazayeri is a former Botox instructor at the National Laser Institute where he trained other doctors and nurses in cosmetic injections.

Juvederm

Juvederm is an FDA approved dermal filler that helps improve facial wrinkles. It is made of hyaluronic acid, a natural carbohydrate found in all human cells including the skin cells.

Over time we lose volume in our face so Juvederm works by adding extra volume to smooth away wrinkles. Juvederm is biocompatible with the human body, and is eventually broken down naturally by our body. Results are seen immediately and can last up to 12 months or longer. There are a variety of Juvederm products, some are best for the cheeks, whereas others are best for the lips for example.

Our doctors have extensive experience with fillers. Dr Jazayeri is a former instructor in one of the leading Cosmetic Schools in Arizona where he trained other Physicians in filler injections.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet rich plasma contains multiple growth factors that stimulate hair growth and rejuvenates the aging skin. PRP is obtained through a process that starts with drawing blood from the patient. This blood is then placed in a centrifuge which spins the blood to separate and concentrate the platelet rich plasma. The patient’s own platelet rich plasma is then injected into the area of the the scalp or skin that needs treatment. For hair loss or hair thinning repair of the hair follicles continues for one to two months after the PRP injections. New hair growth can be seen as early as two months, but it is typically more noticeable between four to 6 months after treatment begins. Numerous scientific studies in medical journals have shown that PRP helps grow hair (Read More in Dermatologic Surgery). A usual schedule for injection is once a month for 4 months to encourage regeneration. Then once every 6-12 months to maintain the improvement.

PRP can also be used together with microneedling to improve skin texture and wrinkles. This combination helps stimulate collagen and elastin production which thickens and tightens thinning skin. During your visit, our doctors can explain in more details the process.

Microneedling with PRP

Microneedling with PRP is used for cosmetic purposes and involves having a blood draw which provides us with platelet rich plasma that is then used to microneedle into the skin for rejuvenation of the skin. The growth factors in platelet rich plasma (PRP), combined with micro-needling, stimulate the skin’s healing mechanisms. In most cases, this leads to a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles, increased elasticity and firmness, smoother texture and younger looking skin.

The four steps in the vampire facial are:

  • The provider uses the patient’s own blood to concentrate growth factors.
  • Numbing cream may be applied topically to the face, depending on the depth of the treatment or if desired.
  • A microneedling device is used to create multiple micro-punctures driving the growth factors into the skin, and the micro-punctures tighten the skin by stimulating the body to produce more collagen.
  • Growth factors are then reapplied onto the micro-punctures for greater stimulation and rejuvenation

This combination of Microneedling and PRP may be known as Dracula facial, or Bloody Vampire face!

Microneedling

Microneedling is a procedure that makes microscopic wounds that causes the skin to create new collagen that will last for years. The procedure uses very fine needles to make punctures in the top layer of skin to increase collagen production. The healing process makes the skin smoother, tighter, minimizes pore size, improves the signs of aging, improves acne scars, lightens dark spots, and improves discoloration. Microneedling on face can be done using a topical nutrient rich serum or it can be combined with platelet rich plasma(PRP).

Chemical Peels

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is a solution that is used in our office as a chemical skin peel. Chemical peels aim to improve the skin’s appearance by removing the outer layer of damaged skin to reveal the underlying layer, which is newer and smoother in texture.

People who benefit from the chemical peel treatment include those who are looking to improve on complexion irregularities such as:

  • Fine lines
  • Acne scars
  • Blackheads
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Large pores
  • Hyper-pigmentation (sun spots)

The concentration of TCA in the chemical peel is an important factor that alters the depth of the peel. In our office we use concentrations of 15% and 23%. The higher concentration gives a deeper peel.

After treatment with TCA you may experience some temporary side effects including:

  • Stinging and burning sensation
  • Redness
  • Flaking and scaling
  • Increased sun sensitivity
  • Be sure to apply sunscreen SPF 30 or greater prior to going outdoors and reapply every two hours

The healing time and degree of discomfort will vary depending on the depth of the chemical peel and sensitivity of your skin. If you have questions, please feel free to ask us. Call our office to set up a peel.

Omnilux Red Light for acne, skin rejuvenation and wound healing

Omnilux red light is used for a variety of applications including skin rejuvenation / wrinkle reduction, acne (anti-inflammatory), wound healing and in combination with a topical anti-precancer for Photodynamic light Therapy (PDT). Omnilux red light has both a rejuvenating and anti-inflammatory effect on the skin.

If you suffer from acne and do not wish to take oral medications or just want to reduce wrinkles around the eyes and photodamage, you should consider Red Light therapy.

Omnilux Red Light is not a laser or UV light, but instead is a very safe wavelength of visible light that kills Propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria that causes acne in your skin. Omnilux can also be used as an adjunct to fillers, peels, or microneedling to help calm the skin and reduce the risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

During your visit to our office you will sit in front of the Red light machine for approximately 20 minutes twice weekly for four weeks. It typically takes about 8 sessions to see results. Thereafter, you may need one to two sessions a month for maintenance.
